Internet Learning

If you have ever used the Internet before, you are no doubt aware that it is the world’s most massive stockpile of stupid things.  After all, between the sites that hate groups put together, the retarded YouTube videos of silly pet tricks and idiots putting themselves in pain to achieve some measure of fame, and the long rants that end up making no sense at all, there really is a lot of stupidity to bask in (and feel better than).  But if you are tired of simply feeling superior to morons and their creations, you do have some other options at your disposal.  For one thing, you are always going to have the option of using the Internet for its other major use- no, not porn.  Learning!

Did you know that between the search engines and the sites such as Wikipedia, you have the option of learning just about anything that has ever been written or known by human beings?  While not all of the best information can be accessed through the front page (which is what most people scan over before shrugging and declaring that they don’t know), within a few minutes of research, you can have plenty of information about just about any topic that you can think of.  Granted, not every topic is going to be worthy of a lot of research.  But if it is important enough to stir up a lot of interest in you, it is important enough to invest a few minutes into reading about.

Consider that the Internet was originally developed by nerdy people who trusted each other implicitly.  While this has led to a lot of security issues, it has also led to the net having the world’s richest stockpile of information, both of the arcane and the mundane nature.  So think about what you might be learning right now, if you can just tear yourself away from all of the ridiculous videos you’ve been watching.
