Inspector Samsung: A Walkthrough of the Company’s Latest Gadgets

Every year in Las Vegas, the Consumers Electronics Show takes over the city’s Convention Center and showcases new technology hitting the market in the coming year. It’s standard for big-name companies to hold press conferences during the show to announce their newest products — both ones to be launched soon and ones still in the working stages. Samsung typically offers up an exciting display of new devices, and this January’s CES definitely saw several inventive Samsung products. Samsung introduced the following four gadgets during this year’s CES.

  1. UN65D800 TV: Samsung announced its newest LCD TV with the full-of-numbers moniker at CES. The screen is 65 inches and displays in 3-D. The most amazing aspect of the new television is the 0.2-inch front bezel. The set is also packed with features such as online capabilities, access to the Samsung application store, a back light that uses LED dimming technology, and a rate of refreshing totally unparalleled in other products (240Hz). Specifications aside, the picture looks phenomenal.
  2. 7-Series Tablet/Laptop: Nearly every major electronic company has come out with its version of the tablet computer, and Samsung released its newest attempt at iPad competition at CES. Unlike the iPad, though, the 7-Series is both a tablet and a laptop. The product sports a full keyboard that folds under, acting as the stand for the tablet portion. This hybrid gadget currently supports Windows 7 operating system, which some consider a major drawback.
  3. BD-7500 Blu-ray player: Samsung launched products that literally broke records during the show. Their brand-new Blu-ray player is the thinnest in the world at 0.9 inches. It is also quite elegant looking — almost modern art-esque. The tech aspect that has everyone talking is the player’s ability to load discs in less than three seconds.
  4. 9-Series Laptop: Taking its cue from Apple once again, Samsung launched its 9-Series Laptop, which borrows heavily from design aspects of the MacBook Air. From the looks of it, the laptop appears to hold its own, though. Specs of the 9-Series include 128GB SSD as well as a Core i5 processor.
